This programme is designed to strengthen teamwork while creating meaningful social impact. At Rekayu Penang, we believe that small, well-intentioned actions can contribute positively to society when they are thoughtfully planned and executed.
Through prior engagement and discussions with various charitable organisations, we have identified specific furniture needs that can genuinely support their daily operations. As many organisations face space limitations, they may only be able to receive a certain quantity of furniture. To address this, for some cases, completed furniture items may be distributed across multiple organisations to ensure they are utilised effectively and responsibly.
Clients are welcome to suggest or select their preferred charitable organisation(s) for donation. Alternatively, the completed furniture may be gifted to participants as part of staff welfare or employee benefits, particularly for those who may be in need.
We place strong emphasis on purpose-driven building. Our objective is not to produce furniture for donation alone, but to ensure that what is built is genuinely useful and welcomed by the receiving organisation. Unsuitable donations can unintentionally create logistical and storage challenges, which we aim to avoid.
For special cases, Rekayu Penang can work closely with a specific organisation to better understand their needs and co-develop furniture or products tailored to their requirements.
Past collaborations include projects with Majlis Bandaraya Pulau Pinang (MBPP) and the Malaysian Wood Moulding and Joinery Council (MWMJC), where carefully-designed items were created for selected charitable organisations.
These included:
Hardware simulation boards, benches and cognitive wooden toys for autism organisations.
Long solid wood table for a handicap center.
Such customized projects fall outside our standard programme offerings and are developed on a case-by-case basis.
