Hands-on woodworking classes for kids aged 7–12.
Hands-on woodworking classes for kids aged 7–12.
Reka Junior is a vibrant series of woodworking lessons tailored for kids aged 7–12, offering an immersive and hands-on experience where young minds can explore creativity and craftsmanship. More than just a woodworking program, it’s a holistic initiative aimed at nurturing character development and essential life skills during these pivotal formative years.
Each session immerses students in hands-on crafting. Every child is equipped with their own set of tools and materials, ranging from chisels and hand planes to saws and raw wood. Our skilled instructors guide and demonstrate techniques, ensuring that each student’s creation remains uniquely their own. As students progress through the program, they work on more intricate models, continually pushing the boundaries of their skills and personal growth.
Our program follows a carefully structured, instructor-led path, emphasizing both craftsmanship and personal development. Students not only learn practical woodworking skills but also valuable life lessons such as patience, perseverance, and problem-solving.
Children will primarily use hand tools, as was common in traditional woodworking. This approach not only teaches craftsmanship but also enhances essential skills like hand-eye coordination, spatial awareness, and fine motor control. Working with hand tools fosters patience, problem-solving, and a deeper connection to the creative process, making it a valuable learning experience.
With a maximum instructor-to-student ratio of 1:10, we ensure individual attention, safety, and a nurturing environment. Reka Junior not only fosters a love for building but also helps kids grow as confident, capable individuals, prepared to tackle new challenges.
Reka Junior - Beginner Level:
In this beginner-friendly course, children dive into the world of woodworking through four exciting, hands-on sessions. They'll learn essential techniques like safe tool handling, cutting, shaping, sanding, and basic joinery—all while building a fun project from start to finish. More than just making things, this course is about nurturing creativity, focus, and confidence. Kids are encouraged to explore, make mistakes, and discover their own rhythm of craftsmanship. To support their growth, we kindly ask parents to sit back and allow their children the freedom to create independently—because some of the best learning happens when grown-ups let go. Let the sawdust fly and the imagination grow!
Reka Junior - Advanced Level 1,2,3:
For young woodworkers eager to further develop their skills, Reka Junior Levels 1, 2, and 3 offer the perfect opportunity to tackle increasingly complex projects. Each level introduces new techniques and challenges, encouraging creativity and problem-solving. These modules are designed as standalone, four-session courses, allowing kids to explore their interests at their own pace without the need to follow a strict sequence. Whether crafting intricate designs or experimenting with advanced tools, these levels provide a flexible yet structured pathway for aspiring woodworkers to continue honing their craftsmanship and exploring the limitless possibilities of woodworking. Parents are encouraged to refrain from interfering during the lesson, allowing children the space to express themselves freely and develop greater independence.
Reka Junior - DIY:
For those eager to unleash their creativity, Reka Junior DIY offers a semi-guided session where kids can work independently on personalized projects. In this collaborative setting, participants bring their ideas to life while benefiting from the support of skilled instructors and the camaraderie of their peers. Whether refining existing skills or experimenting with new techniques, Reka Junior DIY encourages self-expression and innovation. This session provides the perfect balance of guidance and freedom, allowing kids to explore woodworking at their own pace.
